HomeToGo Seals Interhome Acquisition, Reconfiguring Flexible Accommodation in Europe

The European market for Flexible Accommodation is witnessing the consolidation of a new titan. The acquisition of Interhome Group by HomeToGo has cleared its final hurdle, having received approval from the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO). The deal, which will be completed in the coming days, is not just an expansion, but a strategic redefinition for one of the world's largest vacation rental marketplaces.

This move is much more than a simple addition of portfolios. For HomeToGo, which has traditionally operated as an aggregator of third-party offers, the purchase of Interhome is a decisive step towards a more hybrid business model. With this acquisition, HomeToGo integrates a portfolio of approx. 49,000 directly managed properties by Interhome, a company with a long and solid trajectory in the sector of the Flexible Accommodation and part of the Hotelplan group.

The synergy between the two companies is clear. HomeToGo will bring its advanced technology platform and digital marketing expertise to optimise the operations and distribution of Interhome's portfolio. In turn, Interhome will provide HomeToGo with exclusive, high quality inventory, strengthening its offering and creating a powerful new revenue stream through direct management, its "Onsite" division.

This operation underlines a key trend in the global Flexible Accommodation: the convergence between technology and professional management. Large platforms seek to ensure quality inventory and greater control over the customer experience, while traditional managers need the technological muscle to compete in an increasingly digitised market.

The combination of HomeToGo's massive distribution capacity with Interhome's reputation and direct management creates a formidable competitor in the European market. It is a clear indicator of the maturity of the sector, where scale, technology and professionalisation are the factors that will determine leadership in the coming years. The result is the creation of a new hybrid giant, poised to redefine the standards of the Flexible Accommodation on the continent.

The next edition Vitur Summit 2026 will take place in Malaga on Thursdays 13 and 14 May and will once again be the meeting point for operators, investors and companies in the sector to boost their business, establish strategic alliances with the different agents involved and gain access to all the latest news, trends and opportunities in the sector from leading speakers and companies.
