Bilbao, New Stage for Luxury in Flexible Accommodation: Copla Living Lands in the Old Hotel López de Haro

Bilbao, despite its status as a stressed residential area and the restriction on new tourist housing licences, continues to be a magnet for investment in Flexible Accommodation high quality. The next major player to land in the city is Copla Living, the chain specialising in luxury urban tourism, which is about to open its doors 55 holiday flats in one of the most unique and central buildings in the capital.

The chosen site is the former Hotel López de Haro, a property that had been closed since the pandemic. This choice underlines Copla Living's strategy of positioning itself in locations where the prime and with character. Although work is nearing completion, anticipation is growing in anticipation of an official opening date.

At the helm of Copla Living is José María Aznar Botella, who has been able to surround himself with solid financial backing from relevant Catalan businessmen, including the president of DeA Capital Real Estate, José María Xercavins, and the family office by Liliana Godia, among others. The firm is not only jumping on the bandwagon of a booming business in Bilbao, where players such as All Iron already operate, but it is doing so with a long-term vision and a well-defined roadmap.

Copla Living's ambition goes beyond the borders of Bilbao. Its plans for the next few years include the management of between 40 and 50 buildings under this same model. To this end, they plan to create a socimi that will be in charge of holding the real estate assets, separating ownership from hotel management.

The national expansion already has names and surnames. After the opening in Bilbao, the company plans to manage a property owned by the bullfighter Miguel Báez ‘El Litri’ next to La Maestranza in Seville, and another in Cordoba, next to the Mosque next year. In 2028, they plan to open in Valencia and are already finalising their settlement in Madrid, after reaching an agreement with the Duke of Alba for the operation of 107 tourist flats in the vicinity of the Liria Palace.
